“Motivation By Another Name”
“…It’s like that dessert waiting for you in the fridge after dinner. Just one bite won’t surely spoil your appetite will it? It’s already got a bite taken out of it so you might as well even it some more. Now you basically should give it justice and make it a clean even half. You know you’ve basically thrown in the towel so just finish the rest of it why don’t you.
Some things are better in moderation and best when parceled out in small doses and at(for) the right times(reasons). There is in fact nothing wrong with bettering one’s self, but when it comes at the cost of berating others or rather causing others to feel that they are nothing more than trash in comparison, that is when motivation becomes something less internal and something a little more petty and spiteful.
Yes at one time we’ve all wanted to be that student, the one at the head of the class; the one that everyone else would complement or talk about; the “different” one that people might avoid but at the same time you could be left alone to be yourself; that one whom others would get out of the way for because they knew that you were doing something too important for them to waste your time; Or even the one that just can’t seem to do anything wrong. Because face it, even if you’re a guy or girl, fairy tales and fantasies are there because we wish they could happen.
It’s that pedestal, that prize that no matter how we try to deny that we’re not like those shallow small-minded people of the world… we are in fact very much so similar that we’re ashamed. We cover up that shame with logic and reasons, with signs and social rules. We do it for ourselves; for others; maybe to win the eye of someone else; or the hearts of the people. But if we manage to reach the top, we realize that we’ve sold out, or that we’ve become what we abhorred or adored. How can it be arrogance if it is us standing on that platform? It’s just pride in doing what is more right, better, or at least not being as bad as the next guy right? We become afraid of falling, or desperate to stay.
Regardless of the name, everyone is a little bit arrogant, prideful, maybe even motivated. Because admit it, just a little bite of funnel cake can’t be wrong… or can it?”
